This was a "father and son" project
that Jon Moore had the honor of designing along side his father,
the prominent architect Jason Moore.
St. Paul Lutheran Church was designed
for a congregation of approximately 1,500 members and was based
on a triangular plan inspired by the "Trinity". The sanctuary
area was planned as a "theatre in the round" with the altar in
the centroid and audience on each side. The choir and organ loft
are on the second level on the third side of the triangle, again
facing the altar.
The structue of the building is
very unique - it is the first structure in the Southwest to incorporate
post-tensioned laminated wood beams to span approximately 80 feet.
The classroom building is a simple
two-story rectangular brick structure to accommodate the sloping
site and includes a small fellowship hall. The next phase of expansion
will include a larger fellowship hall and classroom expansion.
